A NEW ERA IN ELT, AI!

Hello dear readers,

Today I will introduce you to an assignment we did. We did this homework with my partner Afra Nur Sirkeoğlu and you can check her blog by clicking here. Our assignment was to prepare AI integrated teaching material. Now I will tell you about this.

The science of creating machines with human-like thought processes is known as artificial intelligence. It is capable of actions called "smart." Unlike humans, AI technology can process enormous amounts of data in many ways. AI wants to be able to accomplish human-like tasks including pattern recognition, decision-making, and judgement.

For this assignment, my partner and I first chose which topic we would prepare material about. Afterwards, we first designed a pre-task for the topic and wrote it as the first activity on the worksheet. For the Targeted activity, we gave a writing task. AI comes into play after this step. We asked our students to ask for feedback from the AI tool known as ChatGpt for the essay they wrote. Finally, for the post activity, students are asked to write down their opinions on the subject.

My opinions about this assignment are positive because today, while getting help from AI while doing homework is considered a bad thing and teachers generally do not support it, it was a very good thing that we ensured that students benefited from AI properly.
